Bennett's Birth Story

Since I did a horrible job on recapping my pregnancy I knew I needed to blog his birth story. It is crazy how quick and tiring the second pregnancy goes. Janie Beth and the holidays kept us busy and week after week I would make a mental note to do an update and it never happened. Once I crawled into bed the last thing on my mind was to blog.

Anyhow....

Bennett's birth is so similar to JB's. I am grateful and blessed that both my babies were ready and my body was ready when I went in for my inductions.

Everything happened on December 26th (poor guy, I hate that this is his birthday)!

We went in at 5:00am on December 26th and checked into Labor and Delivery room 10. The first nurse we had was Mollie, she was great but her shift ended soon after everything got started. But, once they got me hooked up to all the monitors they informed me I was having contractions, which I thought was Braxton Hicks, oops. After a few hours of these contractions I asked for my epidural. Mollie was so sweet and calm which made me calm during that horrid shot. I don't remember my epidural hurting that bad with JB.

Mollie's shift was over and in came Amy, who I adore!! That's when things got rocking and rolling. My doctor came in and broke my water and we started the pitocin and I laid with a peanut ball in between my legs. That was the weirdest thing ever. But it worked.

As I continued laying there I noticed my right leg was more numb than my left and I was feeling every contraction on my left side. It was starting to get more painful. After telling Amy she grabbed the anesthesiologist and they gave me another dose and BAM I was feeling great! More power to those ladies who give birth naturally- I AINT DOING IT!

My doctor came and checked me at 12:30 and I was at 6cm. By 1:00 I was 10cm and crowning!!! Amy called my doc and we had to wait for him before I could push. He didn't get there until 2:00 :/ So we just talked and waited.

2:06pm our sweet Bennett entered the world at 6.5 pounds and 18 1/2 inches. He was petite and perfect!

Janie Beth loved him as soon as she saw him and she still does. It melts my heart to see her get excited to see him each morning and afternoon when she gets home from school.
